Fashionably Young at Heart - Luv for Disney Doesn't Die (The multi-generational appeal of Disney)

I had not gone to a party since Feb 2020. Call me crazy but as someone with underlying health concerns I would like to reach a happy ripe old age in the distant future. There is also the fact if I did get Covid I would not wish to give it to someone else. Thier life in my hands like that? While some people take that responsibility lightly, for me... not so much... Judge your own actions before you go after mine, just saying...

My personal safety zone was when the transmission rate reaches >3 in my area and that is where we were when I was invited to celebrate my Niece's 6th birthday. I had not seen her in 2 years. TWO YEARS!!!

The last time I saw my nieces in 2019
With that said... I've not dressed for anything but going to a store and such in nearly 2 years. Putting on mascara... I realized it was not worth putting on for making TikTok videos a while back. I have clothes I bought before the shutdown that I have never gotten around to wearing. Nowhere to wear it too... I also have lost a little weight since March 2020, so I was able to get into a shirt I bought a number of years ago that I have never been able to get into. I must have gained weight right after I bought it. I know I tried it on before buying it!
It seemed appropriate for a six-year old's party. The Little Mermaid was one of my favorite Disney movies growing up and Disney is not something you ever completely grow out of. So many from my generation loves these movies to this day.
My niece was really into Minnie Mouse the last time I saw her so that was what I made for her - Minnie Mouse Scarf - and afterwards I sat down with her to ask her what Disney Princesses she's into now for future reference :-D

Letting my Freckles show :-D
Also note this was in Dec, which was oddly warm, so I didn't have anything cool enough that was more Christmas time like.

I also had this bracelet I also bought in Early 2020 online from the app Wish.com... I never got to wear it. I actually when buying it thought I might take it apart and use the charms for something else. It only cost about $4 at the time but it went fast, and I doubt it's available anymore, but you can look, maybe I'm wrong. If you do come across one somewhere, I will say it's well worth more than the $4 I paid for it. Here I turned it into a necklace by adding another plain bracelet at the back.

Ok, lets get to the makeup!

I mean, my makeup skills after almost 2 year of very little use is suffering... (I have used makeup because I made TikTok videos and such, but I did the bare minimal. Thats not a bad thing though. Make up is for fun... you don't have to completely cover your face with it. Ur beautiful without a speck of it on... just saying...)

(I acquired this product at Dollar Tree, yes, I said Dollar Tree! I had started buying from Wet n Wild directly on their website which I do recommend. But to walk into a store and finding a whole bunch of those liquid eyeshadows for just ONE DOLLAR?!?! Happy Dance!) You can pick this up currently at Wet n Wild's website for $3.44 Click on above title for link to product.

Next I used one of my FAVORITE eyeshadows palette! This was the second I bought from this brand. The first palate was call Spectrum with 10 very bright colors. I had been wanting a palette with bright colors but most available were just different shade of browns. I saw Spectrum and bought it then and there... It was only FIVE Dollars at Walmart!
I pick this palette up when my family went on a shopping mission to prepare for the coming shut down. I spotted Neon and didn't know when I would be coming back to Walmart, so I bought it too.
This brand is SO GOOD. I don't know how you're going find any shadows any better than this this without upping your budget dramatically! It's so smooth and pigmented!!! The price does not represent the quality of the product in any way!

This isn't my favorite mascara of all time (they seem to have stopped producing that one) But I do like it. It's good! I would defiantly recommend someone trying it. I have a mini size here I got in a gift set which is easier to carry around and last a fair amount of time. It takes me a while to get through a tube of mascara, so I like having a mini. I did have a large size, but I may have used it all or it dried up, not sure... Like I said above. I haven't been using Mascara much the last 2 years.

CONTOURING BLUSH & BRONZING POWDER - ELF

Honestly, I used this partly because it had a mirror with it! But it's not a bad blush. I don't really use the bronzer with it. Maybe when life goes back to seeing people and showing our faces, I'll give it a try again... It's very smooth and soft. No complaints. The packaging is the selling point though. I found it on Clearance at Walmart quite a while ago, but it looks like Elf still sales it and at a very fair price! I actually remember this being more then $3.40 not on sale as they are stating here... but right now it's $1.92! I'm not sure what shade I have as I misplaced it currently...

 (Color - Capricorn)
I don't know if you can get these anymore or not. They were selling them at Walmart for a while which I got this one. I later ordered the ones they had on clearance on WetnWild.com after Covid kept me out of stores. I had a good experience buying from them. The second order did have an issue, but they were very good at addressing it.
This may not be a gloss for everybody. I love glitter and Capricorn is pure glitter. It is a duo chrome changing from a purple to a yellow gold. I have also used this as a glitter highlighter on my cheeks.
UPDATE: I just found this color for sale on Wetnwild.com Link above. $1.90!

Denim and Lace (Gloria Vanderbilt Jeans, Wet N Wild, Elf, HardCandy, CoverGirl, Maybelline)

Denim and Lace Outfit and Makeup I'm sure this blouse was a thrift store find. I don't remember exactly where. Size: Large Made in Indonesia. I've really started to take note at where my clothes are made. I've found the clothing that I wear that falls apart in mostly made from China. The best outfits in my wardrobe (other the designers made in the US) are made in Vietnam of all places. Take note of all the pin tucking all over the front. The shirt shown here is a light weight cotton and it is a little big on me but comfortable none the less. Pant made by Gloria Vanderbilt "All American Slimming Effect" size 10 bought at +Costco These are quite comfortable and ended up buying a 2nd pair! These are also made in Indonesia. I've very impressed with these and would recommend them! You can find really good deals on them if you are a Costco member. I recently bought a pair of Calvin Klein Jeans and in those I wear a 12.
MAKEUP Brows : Elf 81303  Dark

I really don’t understand the brow styles these days. So many brow products coming out but I’m just familiar  with using a brow pencil but found this ELF brow kit on sale and wanted to try it. It even comes with a little mirror. I didn’t expect to like it as much as I do. On the right is a dark wax and on the left is a lighter brown powder. Now I don’t understand why the colors are not closer in color. The applicator  that comes with it on one side has a stiff brush for the wax and a soft for the powder. And guess what I haven’t lost the applicator yet! You can find it HERE for $3

Face:
Hard Candy Sheer Envy Color correcting Primer
I’m not wearing any foundation. Just a layer of SPF moisturizer. My eyes were a little dark this day (hate allergies!) so used this product for the first time. I do have a W.N.W color corrector palette that is not easy to work with and I don’t use a lot because of it. THIS however is pretty cool! It goes on smooth and your skin get the lightest tint of green. You know, enough to work but not enough to look like you painted blobs of green on your face! The finish is really smooth and not at all sticky, un like the WNW on I have. I think I may have found a color corrector I like! You can find it HERE $8
Wet n Wild Coloricon Blush in Rose Champagne C326B
I’m not sure why this is a blush… I mean… it’s not pink. To me it is a nude with a warm tone. No “rose” in it’s color. That being said it is useful to me as a face powder or base eyeshadow base. Here I wanted to make sure there was any visible green from the color corrector so I set t with powder just in case.
You can find it HERE $2.99 Maybelline NY Fit Me! Blush 104 Light Pink

This is another blush that looks very close to my natural skin tone but has more pink to it then the Wet n wild Pink Champagne. I have a lot of pink in my skin tone so I use this also as face powder or eyeshadow but since it is pink I will use it for a very pale blush.
You can find it HERE $5.99

Eyes:
E.L.F. Eye primer Sheer 21711
This was only $2 not on sale. I had a more expensive primer that I like but I hated using it on days I was just playing with my make up so I bought this. Is it great? No. I was not happy with it at all when I first started using it but the more I use it the more it grows on me (and maybe I’m just getting the hang of how to use it) It tends to burn a little if I put it really close to my eyes directly so I put it higher and then I smooth it around to my lids and it’s fine. You can find it HERE $2

Covergirl trunaked Jewels Dazed useing color “Quartz”
Watching reviews on this palette I saw people did not like this shade. It didn’t show up on their skin. Well, this is a case where it just depends on who you put it on. I think this color is so pretty and looks good on me and you can see it! I have found cool tones look better on me and that might be one of the issues. This is a very cool blue pink. On me it works. It is also quite soft and creamy in feel. It is the only matte in this palate and I’m using it for my transition. You can find it HERE
E.L.F. Aqua Beauty Molten Liquid Eyeshadow
I was trying to be clever and a little desperate for something I could use as a glue for some of my really glittery shadows. I pulled this out and decided to give it a try… I apply it over my base shade on my eyelid. And YES! It worked. Glitter shadows cling to this very well. Use a blend brush to get rid of any harsh lines.
Maybelline NY The CityKits Urban Light Eye+cheek Palette

I got this palette because of these light colors! (and it was on sale) I have very hooded eyes and I like to use bright colors so not to darken my eyes more then they are already. I used the gray shade in the crease. I used to yellow next to the green on my lid.

You can find it HERE $4

Maybelline NY Lash Sensational Full Fan Effect
Big Lots sent me this mascara and it’s pretty good. I’ve had so many issues with mascaras through the years. Eventually found that I’m safe with Covergirl and Maybelline when it come to irritating my eyes. It’s been many years since I’ve tried another brand except when I bought a tube of Loreal… I could barely use it cause of the bad design and it dryed up after a few uses. As for Maybelline and covergirl I have has a problem with the formulas being too watery. This one is one is not too bad and it does fan your lashes! I bought another tube in this line when I saw it on sale cause I liked this one. Won’t open it till I finish off a tube though.
Note: I have a lot of problems with mascara getting on my eye shadow when I put on my mascara last so to solve that I now put it on first before the shadow. I might put on another coat after I finish if needed but it cuts down the mess. This is why I hate watery mascara. It really goes EVERYWHERE when I use it!
Find it HERE $8.99 MSRP

Lips:
  Covergirl 323 Delicious Exquis
I like Covergirl lipsticks. When you put them on let them dry down for 10 or so minutes before drinking or eating and they will stay really well. I got this stick from Big Lots. This color is a darker version of Quartz in the eyeshadow palette! This color looks to be discontinued but I did find it on Amazon HERE

Rosie Blue

Eyes:
Concealer Love My Eyes (Not sure this is sold anymore, I've had this stick for years)
Baked Eye Shadow in a light cream by Hard Candy (I like to use this in the corner of my eyes)
Popping pigments 879 Land and Sea by Hard Candy (for sparkle)
Lashes:
the Falsies Volum' Express Waterproof by Maybelline New York (to be honest, I dont recomend this mascara. Very watery, messy, but I try to make it work since I have it)
Face:
Dream Bouncy Blush 50jnov (the color name is rubbed off the back) by Maybelline (used right this stuff works great but you need to know how to work with it or it makes a mess. Not sure if the make it any more

School Girl Nostalgia

Dress:
   GEORGE ME (by Mark Eisen)
 Size 4/6
 Color Charcoal Heather Grey
 Style# GL4009
 Made in China
 Modern

And yet another GEORGE ME (by Mark Eisen) Walmart's +Walmart.COM attempt to coming out with a higher in designer line. And again I found it on a clearance rack. I debated on buying it as it has a 1960's school girls look to it but after realizing I could wear a blouse under it I got it... which does nothing to make it look less like a 1960's first grader.... but I liked it!
The fabric is modern though and comfortable to wear. Has a bit of stretch to it, aka Spandex. Not that it really needs any but it does make it more comfortable to relax in.

Blouse:

  •     No Label

  •     Size around a 8/10
        Vintage

I also wore this blouse here: Changing Decades.
This was my mom's blouse. I don't know how old it is but I know it's vintage. There were a lot of blouses in the 70's and 80's that were lovely but made of awful fabrics! Makes me sad cause I would wear them if they were like this one, made out of cotton or some sort of cotton blend.
When I wore it here: Changing Decades. I didn't get a shot of the fancy work on the sleeves! Spring is coming so the arms are gonna start seeing daylight again.

    Tights:

    •     No Boundaries
I have just started wearing tights again. I'm actually finding them comfortable!
I'm quite tall so short dresses become mini's on me and I'm a classy girl, so... in comes the tights!

    Jewelry:
    • Costume Locket and Key Pin
A real working locket with dark hot pink rhinestones and a small key charm dangle. I for some reason like the heart key concept in jewelry. I don't have a picture in this one but a swab of fabric sprayed with perfume. And if your wondering it's Taylor Swift's Wonderstruck. Yeah, the real stuff! I found a fair deal after Christmas and bought it. I'd been wanting it for a year!

     Accessories:

        Hat
        Brand Unknown
        Modern

You don't find these hats in the south. This one came from a general store in NJ. I mean, how cute is this?!?!? Looks like a 1920's flapper hat!
The round part in the center of the bow is real fur.

        Coat
        Rain Shedder by Ken Meritt
        Vintage

Wool mix lined all weather coat. My mom bought this for me.

    Makeup:

       Face

ELF HD Blush "Headliner" *83231 +e.l.f. Cosmetics

Not really using a foundation but did rub in some blush. "Headliner" is a very natural color on me.
    Eyes

Define-a-lash for the lashes. Got a Maybelline trend going on the eyes here. I have a old thing of "Grey Matters". They still carry this set but now you get more of the light grey then the dark... ok... anyway.... I used the light grey on my lids.
Oh and I nearly forgot, I used Elf's Eyeliner pin around my eyes. Trying to not be too dramatic with it though. I like the way this pin works. My only issue with it is that it needs to be stored up right or  it won't write right. Oh, it not water proof either... but it gets the job done other wises.
    "Purty Persimmon" is far right.

    Lips
One of my newest lips sticks to join my collection. I went out of my way to find a color called "PinkerBelle" last year after seeing it on Pinterest +Pinterest Fan Page | News, Updates & Business   I liked it so much that when I crossed a really good sell on MegaLast lipsticks I picked up two colors that popped out at me. Gotta luv the vibrant shades coming out now!

And look who I ran into later that day!

    YODA!!!! +Star Wars

    Spotlight Polka Dots

Something about this dress I found appealing. My mom did not. I tried it on and she liked it a little better... lol. I like to have my mom around when I'm trying clothes on to get a second opinion. I mean, I can't see all angles in the mirror! To me this dress had a sophisticatedly quirky look to it.

    Dress

           Robbie Bee
        Size Small Petite
        Made in China
        Rn #109881
        Modern

I've noticed I tend to wear petite sizes well. I do not know why! I am 5' 9! Petite or not I do have a problem with skirts being shorter then I like. (Tall girl problems.) This is about as short as I can go and still feel comfortable wearing it and that is when I'm wearing tights under them. This dress fits me like it's some where around a 4 or a 6.

    Shoes

           J. Renee'
        Jocelyn
          Size 9 1/2

I'm from AL... Hounds Tooth, ....is anymore need to be said? ;-)
       J. Renee' name their shoes. The name is actually written in the shoe! This pair is named "Jocelyn". I think these retailed around $120.

    Accessories
    • Ring
    • Necklace
The ring is vintage. Silver with marcasite. Bought from a consignment shop in the 90's so I don't really know how old it is. It's my mom's but I thought it looked good with the outfit so I asked if I could wear it.
The necklace is mine. I don't remember much about it. I never wore it much if at all but I've had it a long time. I love it with this dress.

    Make-up

    Face
I didn't wear any foundation. Just a little blush. This "Bouncy" blush sounds stupid but work amazingly well. You tap it with your finger then tap it to you cheeks. People who don't know this little but important tip end up messing up the stuff. Don't press you finger in it, just lightly tap. They need to write that on the packages! I had to look it up online to figure out how to use it!

    Eyes
There is a new thing I am seeing with eye shadow looks. Or at least new to me. I have never seen this done before. People are putting a bright light color on the center of the eye lid. It creates dimension. I'm just wearing a highlight of a light-light gold in the center of my eyelids. It's a color that came with my Christmas gift set: Hard Candy Christmas

Maybelline Define-a-lash is a good. I don't use it a lot. It came with a set of Maybelline
Mascaras I bought years ago. When using it here I thought to myself, why don't I use this one more? It's not thickening but as the name subjects, it defines you lashes.

    Lips:
Base coat of "Red-dy or Not". I like to use a stain first so if the gloss wears off there is color still underneath. On top I put a new find from this year Christmas clearance: Hard Candy Christmas. I wish I could tell you what shade this Hard Candy gloss is but it's not labeled.

The photo below is of me and a framed print of New York by Karen Dupre'. I found it at one of my childhood BBF's consignment shop! Heather's Beads and Baubles. I have a small collection of NYC themed prints. I <3 NY
Oh, and some might appreciate the vintage mid century sofa I'm sitting on here. It was bought in 1955. It originally was an awful green but was redone in the 70's. I like the yellow much better then the green. It was my Grandparents.

    L.A. Colors Shadow's Dance Shadow

    After getting home from dance.
No makeup other then the Eye Shadow.
L.A. Colors Shimmering Loose Eye Shadow  "Lollipop". I got a good deal on Black Friday thinking I could use it as a blush due to the pink'ish tone. I have a very pink under tone and use to have a hard time finding a blush that looked natural on me. Lately though they have shifted to all blushes being pink. Anyway... I'm going off topic here.... sorry....

I got home from dance one night and looked in the mirror and was quite surprised at the reflection! Before heading to class I threw on a little of this shadow. I have seen these before but I found this in a clearance box earlier last fall. While I have used it as blush I decided to try it as an eyeshadow on a whim.

I head to class which was an hour long and involves a fair amount of sweat!

I look in the mirror and the eye shadow was STILL THERE! Barely moved at all!!! Felt I should share this amazing feat! Only shadow that has performed anything close to this is Maybelline's Color Tattoo.

    Southern Winter Eyes: How To

Did everyone has a good Christmas? This is a bad year for the flu! So far I'm good, but I know a lot of people who has been hit by it! My sympathies. I've had my share of the flu.
My Christmas was good. What did everyone get? I did pretty good in the makeup department which I will fill you all in with another post but here is my Christmas look. More on the dress here: Southern Sweater Dress
And now the eyes............. (I'm giving you the names of the colors I used. Feel free to use similar colors in other brands or change the colors as you wish!)
    ______________________________

Step 1: Color Tattoo, this stuff is great! I also used it here: Party With the Young'uns in "Blue Paradise". It truly does last a long time! "Gold Rush" is a very bright metallic gold. First, place "Gold Rush" above your eye lid

Step 2: Did you know I like glitter? Haha... anyway, in the eye crease apply "Night Sky". Diamond Lust is a very sparkly  line of shadows that they had me in mind when they made it ;-) I've collected 5 shades of this now! "Night Sky" is a dark grey with lots of sparkles.

Step 3: Start the color at the inside of your eye (at the tear duct) and taper it out over the lids of your eyes. I'm using a purple Baked Eye Shadow from Hard Candy. It has a good bit of shine but not quite as shiny as the other colors.
Step 4: Using eyeliner, line the upper lid bring out a little of a wing. Eyeliner under the lid only line half of it and meeting the wing and the outside corner of the eye.
I just bought a new liner. I finally ran out of my own bottle and I can't even find that brand anymore so for a dollar or two I took the chance on ELF's Eyeliner Pin. The concept of using a pin sounded like a good one! I also read a good review on it too. It worked! I must note though that is not waterproof at all.

Step 5: Mascara time! L'Oreal Paris Voluminous Extra-Volume One of the of my Black Friday weekend finds!

Step 6: Somehow this shadow didn't make it to the pic of makeup I used but this is also from the Diamond Lust line by Revlon. This is best put on with a small makeup brush, Again sparkly but very close to the color I used on my lids from Hard Candy. I like this pairing of two similar colors, one in not as sparkly as the other like this. It  adds some depth to it. I placed it under my eye starting at the wing and tapering into the middle of the eye.

And your done! Ever give this look a try please let me see it!
    Till next time!

    Changing Decades

At least two people I know changed decades this year! One my friends planed a surprise party for which was pretty fun! I've never been to a surprise party before!
I threw this little outfit together. It has such a retro vintage look to it. Reminiscent of the 1930's and maybe even going back to the 1910's due to it reminding me of a photo I found of my Great Grandmother around 1910. (Did you know there were photo booths in the 1910's? Yeah, nether did I but I have a strip taken of my Great Grandparent!)
    _____________________________

    Top:

       Jacket
    •    Last Kiss
       Size Large
       Modern

I found this jacket in a little town in NJ one day when the stores where having an outdoor sale. They would do it like once a week in the summer... something like that. This was on clearance at a shop called Raimbow. I loved how many little shops there were with such affordable prices! Rainbow actually opened a shop in my hometown in AL! I haven't had a chance to go in it.

    Blouse
    •     No Label
        Size around a 8/10
        Vintage

Love Victorian lace? I believe this was my mom's originally and somehow I ended up with it. A lovely cotton embroidered and cut out lace work blouse. My estimate is it is from the 70's or very early 80's. Not only does the needle work go down the front but there is embroidery on the sleeves as well.
I don't know why the label is gone but people cut them out through the years. Back in the day those labels could be quite annoying! They would just be scratchy and ichy! I'm sure this is not a homemade piece but the lace work is quite nice.

    Skirt:
       Size M (around an 8)
       Made in China
       Modern

This skirt is crochet with a matching underskirt. Not sure if the photos do justice to the detail in the crochet.
I found this article on Isda & Co. Isda & Co. Mysteriously Closes After 25 Years in Business so I don't know what is up with that but I also came across this article from The New York Times The Skirt That Loved Me 2006 remarking on how the brand harks from another era. Kind of sad she thought a skirt would be "too pretty" to wear in a subway! What!?! Since when is there dress codes in a subway! LOL....

    Shoes:
    • JINMANG Shoes
       Size 10
       Made in China

I was in a show and needed Victorian style shoes... This was my find. As I told a friend recently, after the show I was like, hey these are cute!
    Also wear them here...
    Pintucks & Ruffles

    Makeup:

    Face:
I don't enjoy putting on full foundation unless I have to, it's just takes more time then I want to spend and then you have to get it off. There was a time when I work full foundation nearly ever day due to my Dermatitis Herpetiformis. After going Gluten Free I don't have to deal with a face full of boils. If there is a bump here or there I cover it here with a cream foundation from Cover Girl But I don't cover my face with it. I'm using it more as a concealer. I checked their website and I can't find where they sell the one I'm wearing here anymore but they do still carry it for dark skin tones!
For Blush I went for E.L.F. HD Blush #83231 Headliner.
To set everything I powdered my face with Cover Girl Clean Pressed Powder 150 Creamy Beige

    Lips:
One of the best of this type of lipstick I have tried. The way this works is you put on the color and let it dry on your lips. You then after waiting a minute or two apply the gloss on top. I first came across this stuff over ten years ago and they did not work as well as this one does. The problem I have had in the past was after it dried and you apply the gloss and the gloss would cause the color to become liquid again and come off! Pretty madding! The gloss with this does what it's suppose to do and protect the color from rubbing off. It's also near over the top glitter and the color of this one is very RED! Fun! :-D Sadly looking on Rimmel's site they don't sell this anymore!

    Eyes:

Step #1 Starting at the lid I placed the dark green in center that is in a V shape in Maybelline Eyestudio Color Explosion Luminizing 15 Forest Fury.
Step #2 Lighter green on the middle right goes in the eye crease.
Step #3 Last place above the eye crease to the brow line the yellow at the top.

What I love about this pallet  Maybelline Eyestudio Color Explosion Luminizing 15 Forest Fury is the rich colors and the glitter!

Step #4 Maybelline New York The Colossal Volum' Express Glam Black is what I use a lot now since I've ran out of my favorite Maybelline mascara and they don't make it anymore.

    Perfume

I bought this bottle not having a clue what the bottle looked like nor what it smelled like! Only that I had sampled a Brittney Spears perfume in the past (years ago) and liked it. I was in luck as the bottle is lovely and it has a nice scent as well. I really don't know how to describe what it smells like.. I like it though! Sort of a spicy sweet Mountain Dew... it's different.

This pretty little clip was picked up in a shop in Astoria Queens. Made of beads, glitter, and velvet I've worn it a lot. The back has a clip and a pin. Here I'm using the clip wearing it like a fascinator.
