Wonderstruck Nails

"Struck with wonder, admiration, or surprise" +Taylor Swift

Have you seen the bottle that Taylor Swift's perfume Wonderstruck comes in?

How did you like the glitter finish?

How would you like to finish your nail to look like it?!

This bottle really reminded me of a bottle of really cool nail polish that either my mom or I picked up many-many years ago. So long ago I don't remember how I got my hands on it.

While this bottle is quite old the polish is still good.

Sally Hansen Nail Prism #03 Purple Diamond "Rainbow in every bottle"

Purple Diamond has the same effect as the finish of Wonderstruck's bottle. The color is really close as well! Just a bit lighter.
With some research I found that the Nail Prisms line had a darker Blue'ish color Garnet Lapis. My hope is that it could be even a closer match. Wish I had a real sample but I don't. Looking at samples online, it may be a bit too blue.
Another possibility could be Color Club Wild at Heart 871 Nail Polish. I'm not familiar with Color Club. I don't know what stores carry it. Online they don't seem to have Wild at Heart though anymore. And since I've never seen it in person it may or may not be as close of match as it looks online.

A Nail by Any Other Color

Ever wanted to paint each nail a different color?
DO IT!
______________________

My rule for this project. Red on the right hand. Green on the left

Flower by Drew Barrymore Nail'd It Nail Lacquer
NP24 Evening Primrose
Starting off is a dark/dull green. I find it a weird color really. Not a color I would up and say "I'm painting all my nails this color!" But I do use it when I'm getting creative like with Camo Nails. Primrose does have sparkles but more a hint of them rather then really calling this a glitter polish.

Revlon Color Stay Long wearing Nail Enamel
220 Rain Forest
I found a dupe!!! I first had Glitzy Green by Salon Perfect then I found this bottle of Rain Forest at a really good price. I didn't realize that they were both the same color until doing this! You get what you pay for though. Revlon only takes two coats to the three Salon Perfect needed to look the same. I just checked their website and they no longer seem to carry Color Stay Long Wearing. Looks like they have a Gel polish taking it's place.

SP Salon Perfect Professional Nail Laquer
309 Glitzy Green
This is a dupe. Read above on Revlon's Rain Forest.

Pure Ice Nail Polish
Made in the USA
1023 Lucky Charming
Such a pretty color and oh so glittery! Pure Ice not to bad of a brand. Not ultra long lasting but fair. this took about 2 to 3 coats.

Pure Ice Nail Polish
Made in the USA
1026 Hit the Floor
Again Pure Ice and this in a stunning red. Reminds me of Dorothy's slippers in The Wizard of Oz. I've also seen a dupe of this I believe in Salon Perfect. I bought it in Pure Ice because it was cheaper.

Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme wear Nail Color
240 Twisted Pink
You can hardly go too wrong with Sally Hansen. I can't find this color on their website. I bought it a year ago.

L. A. Colors Color Craze Nail Polish with hardeners
NP422 Lighting #13233
I normally take Wet n' Wild over LA Colors but I saw this color and wanted it! Neon Pink! It almost has a orange color to it. I like colors that just jump out at you like this. The polish it's self is pretty good. Not bad for a $1 bottle of polish!

Flower by Drew Barrymore Nail'd It Nail Lacquer
NP4 Gorgeous Gerbera
Flower has a strange mix of colors in my opinion. This one is a flesh-tone pink. One thing about Flower is that of all the polishes I used here, it is the longest lasting. So if you like the colors I would recommend it. It does have a thicker consistency so it can be a little harder to get is on the nail looking perfect.

Holiday Party Mix: Nails How To

Be sure to read the end of the post for a extra tip!
   TIS THE SEASON!!!

OK, yeah it's that time of year again... not that you would not already know that by turning your radio in the car.
Feeling festive I threw this combo together!
(I wish the photos did justice to how sparkly and pretty this turned out, but alas it doesn't)
__________________________

Step 1: I started with two coats of Avon's Pro Nail Enamel "Sunshine". It's a lovely yellow but I've always had difficulty using it. It's a bit think and very unforgiving... near impossible to apply perfectly. Avon has good products including nail polishes but this is not one of them. It works to use it as a base coat with glitter so the flaws are hidden. I liked how this turned out and it did last longer then other manicures I have done.

My mom's manicure and mine interlocked, I thought it was a cool shot.
Step 2: I wanted a 3 dimensional feel and a more Christmas'y feel so I used Milani Nail Lacquer "Fruitcake" This may have been my mom's at sometime because I don't remember buying it... it's a little glob'y but hey it's old so that could be why, I don't know where it came from. 1 to 2 coats. This is a glitter in a clear gloss.

Step 3: At last the topper. Wet n Wild "Party of Five Glitters" is a favorite of mine! Not sure why it is called "Party of Five Glitters" I don't know because it's really only 3 colors small red and green specks and larger silver specks. But what the best part of it is, the gloss goes on thick and dries quickly, glossy, and hard. I've used a lot of it considering I've only had it less then a year.

Step 4: Now for the twist pick a finger or two to be the odd one out by painting it a matching solid color. I went with Sally Hansen's "Emerald City". This I know was my mom's. She has a matching green glitter too that I didn't use in this. Not sure how old it is but I'm guessing 10 years +! What is neat is it matches my created Emerald ring! So Emerald is a good name for this!

Finnish: I recommend using a quick dry. I use one made by Avon

Extra: You're liking the Emerald ring, right? Right here.... Sterling Silver Created Emerald & Diamond Accent Ring ... your welcome!

Black Friday Weekend 2014

So, how was your Black Friday weekend?
I've only been to 3 and 2 of those I sort of ended up in it on accident... yeah... not a huge fan. When grown men are stealing Justin Bieber Games out of other people's cart... I mean, it's not worth it.
I did not get in on any early morning sales. Didn't even hit one store on Fri BUT I feel I sort of hit the jackpot on Sat running into a clearance sale where I got all the above for around $10! So call this my Black Friday haul!
I see fun times ahead!!! :-D

Purple Nail Potion

So, what were you this Halloween? Me? I worked that night so I wore a costume... so I claim that as my costume this year!

Wasn't sure what to do with my nails… since I was working, nobody would hardly see them... being it is so cold out now my hands would be wearing gloves. We were starting to get "Wintery Mixes" by this point.

My mom bought some sparkly purple I liked and thought I’d try it out. I like to layer, so here we go…

I’m not much of a manicure person… just not. I will paint them when I’m in the mood and cut and groom them as needed. I don’t know how in the world people get those LONG nail they haven’t cut in years… it’s for one thing, gross. Second, I can’t deal with long nails… they drive me nuts. (No, I don’t bite my nails! I really cut them that short! I’ve gotten that question before…)

Anyway, back on topic. The first coat is of Sally Hansen "Purple Potion". Sounds like a Holloween'ish name, right? (Well, to be honest to my beliefs I do not endorse Witchcraft. You know that disclaimer in front of Michael Jackson’s Thriller… yeah. … just have to throw that in there.) Ok, back to nails…
I looked on the Sally Hansen website and they don't seem to have this color anymore! "
My mom bought a purple to go with this top coat but I decided to use my own. Mine has an iridescent purple that changes to blue. Of all the nail polish I have used Sally Hansen is one of the best. There are two coats here. It would have been better had I done one more.
I have never use the Pure Ice brand before. I found online that "All Pure Ice Nail Polish are free of formaldehyde, toluene and DBP." I don’t like to make my mind up quickly on if a product is good or not after one use but so far so good. It’s purple glitter with a mix of red. I did two coats. Again I needed more. The glitter is VERY glittery! I like it! It’s a type of glitter that a photo doesn't quite do it justice. It glitters a lot with movement.
One thing that also drives me crazy about painting my nails is the fact I can’t keep my fingers still to dry long enough to keep from messing up my nails! This Avon quick dry works better than dyers I have used in the past. Some I have used I didn't bother with for long because they didn't’ work very well. I will actually use this and it does for the most part dry the polish and seems to leave it shiner then if I just let it dry naturally. It also doesn't stay really oily afterwards. What little is left is easily wiped away. It’s not yucky.
I just looked on Avon's site and it says they don't sell this anymore!!! What?!?! I don't now if they made something new to use in it's place or what but this is a good product!

Party With the Young'uns

A lot of family get-togethers revolve around birthday
parties. The latest was my cousin's littlest. In past parties I have ended up getting dropped in a dunking booth and sliding down one of those blow up kid's things...

Dress:
  Bisou Bisou
 Size 4
 Modern

This is a wrap around dress made out of a swim suit type fabric. When I found this I loved the fact the fabric looked like peacock feathers! Peacock feathers remind me of Princess Jasmine... so, yeah I'm a Aladdin Fan. (not ashamed... or trying to not be)
Bisou Bisou was created by Michele Bohbot and Bisou means "A Little Kiss" in French. On their site the latest line shown is the 2012 Spring Collection. So not sure if this line is manufactured any more.
Really this dress has a very 40's look to it. The fabric kind of outshines a lot of the details.
A ray of pin tucks from the left side to the center right. The sleeves are caped at the elbow. I had short pants underneath. Wrap skirts can show too much if your not careful! This one didn't give me much trouble.

Shoes:
  Flip Flops
Size 9

I don't know what the brand of these are. I've had them for a while. They are a dark pink with glitter. Have some purple sequined heels that would go great with this but alas... not a good idea at a party involving water slides.

Makeup:

Face
  • Elf Zit Zapper
  • Loreal Paris +lorealparisnyc  Sublime Sun Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 100 Sheer Lightweight Lotion
  • N.Y.C. New York Color Cover Stick 782A Medium
  • Cover Girl Clean 225 Buff Beige
  • E.L.F. +e.l.f. Cosmetics  HD Blush #83231 Headliner
Gluten issues getting you down? Like Dermatitis Herpetiformis? Pull out your handy Zit Zapper! Yes, it's made for use on common zits but it also dose a good job of soothing and removing redness from what I call "Gluten Bumps". This stuff is pretty nice! I've been through I don't know how many achne products over the years and this is one of the best and most simple ideas that actually work!
This year it was too hot to even sit outside for very long but I prepared for if I did spend very long in the sun. I burn and maybe turn a darker shade of pale as a result. So I'm even more not a fan of the sun. Sunburns HURT!!! If I know I'm going to be in the sun much I like to use a sun screen moisturizer and I found Loreal's on clearance and thought I'd give it a try. I hate most sunscreen due to the smell and yucky feeling. I would recommend this! The smell is pleasant and you can put makeup on top of it and not have a total mess.
Now after treating your "Gluten Bumps" with the Zip Zapper and letting that dry. Cover it with NYC Cover stick then hit the cheeks with a dab and I mean a dab as this stuff goes a LONG way, E.L.F HD Blush. Too much and you will look like you have a sunburn! ;-)

Eyes
  • Maybelline NY Define-a-lash Mascara Very Black
  • Maybelline NY Color Tattoo 24hr By Eyestudio Limited Edition 15 "Blue Paradise"
Again using Define-a-lash Very Black. It's been pretty much the only mascara I've been using lately.
COLOR TATTOO!!!! I have been wanting to try this stuff for years now!! Finally got my hands on two colors. I have it in this Limited Edition Blue and another orange color. Haven't had the chance to try the orange but the blue! Oh, it's fun! A very iridescent effect! It looks better on your skin then when it's just sitting in the jar. And yes, it lasts very well! Check out the colors they still make, I'm liking the Teal!

Lips
  • Wet n Wild Vicious Varnish High Shine Lip Stain Fergie Line +FergieVEVO  "Ball in Vienna"
A fav of mine right now! People who only wear expensive brands need to get over themselves! This stuff is REALLY good. I still had some of it on my lips the NEXT DAY! I came across this while looking for Pinkerbelle in a Walgreens that didn't carry it but next to the normal brand of Wet n Wild I saw the Fergie line. And I saw a picture of a girl with a color on her lips I really liked. They didn't say what the color was though! Looked around at the colors and this matched the most so I bought it. Glad I did!

Jewelry
  • Avon clip-on earrings
I do not re-call the name of these earrings but they came from Avon when I sold Avon. I got them at a discounted price because they were discontinued. I have earrings and a matching necklace. I don't wear them together cause they are such large bold pieces that it would just be too much. I've had people remark that they look old and they are correct. They do have an early turn of the century look to them. Maybe that's part of the reason I like them so much. Antique look and in pink with rhinestones! Oh, and they came as clip-ons! I do not have pierced ears.

Scent
  • Elizabeth Taylor's Passion
This smells like flowers! Paper whites, maybe? It's also a pretty strong scent. I like to wear this often. It's not fruity but not earthy either. I tend to go for fruity but this is nice when I'm in an in between mood. Totally smells nothing like anything else I have!

Nails
  • Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear Nail Color 210 "Flirt"
  • Wet n Wild Fast Dry Nail Color C238C "Party of Five Glitters" By Markwins
As I said. I'm not a big manicure fan. If in the mood I paint my nails and I like to be fancy weird about it. I remember my first two bottles of nail polish my mom let me by at a dollar store. One was dark fuschia and the other gold. I had never seen it done before but I came up with painting gold streaks over the fuschia. Wasn't I clever...
Anyway, people have been layering polish for years. But I particularly like this combo. The first color is a deep deep blood red. Not a color I thought I'd like very much but I bought it on sale needing it for a project I was working on and I was surprised I actually liked the color as nail polish!
The clear coat with glitter really works easily. Best clear coat glitter I have ever used!

Party Time!

I'm really trying not to cheat on my Gluten Free diet (It's unpleasant when I do so that does help matters) but I do at birthday parties and weddings because I don't get sick much when I eat cake. I think part of the reason of this is that Gluten is taken out of cake rather then added to it.
But look at what my cousin managed to do with cake! I've seen this on Pinterest but never in person! Pretty cool, hu?!

(And yeah... she's a knock-out... the model I spoke of HERE ... got some good genes running in my family.) +Tiffany Jernigan
