Glowing in the Dark - A Look At Glow in the Dark Nail Polish

http://pureicecosmetics.com
Pure Ice  #001
Pure Ice Nail Polish #001 "Glow in the Dark"

The rest of my collection of Glow-in-the-Dark polishes
Not often I type in #001. I guess this is their first color? LOL... Anyway, I like to wear glow in the dark polish around Halloween but it can be fun to use all year round if you like. I have 3 bottles of Glow it the dark. Four, if you want to count a bottle of really cheap stuff that I don't quite remember when I got it, or where, or if it had a brand name. But it does glow cause the lights went out and I saw it over there glowing... the other brands I have are Salon Perfect and Wet 'n Wild. The Salon Perfect is an orange color that separates just looking at it and you can't shake it enough to get it completely mixed. It's a mess though it does glow well when you get it on your nails. I didn't pay much for it and I was traveling and didn't bring my Wet n' Wild bottle with me.... well, I think it might be more the case as I had lost it ;-) Pretty cool looking bottle, just found it in an old box of make-up that I don't use much. The bottle looks like a headstone! If I remember correctly I think it does glow.
But here I have a new bottle of Pure Ice, a brand I like for about $2. They had a number of colors this year for Halloween. Several glowed. I went for the clear'ish that you can use a top coat. It works!

Fairy Tale Forest Fantasy

Pure Ice is now on my list of favorite affordable nail polish. Beautiful shades that last reasonably well!

Pure Ice's new collection Fairy Tale Forest has a very frosted fantasy look to it! Very different feel then other lines I have been seeing. The colors make me think of snowy winter where everything is frosted over with snow. I have not seen these is stores yet. On their site they are called Limited Editions. I won a drawing and the whole set landed at my house! Even came in a zippered bag! Happy Holidays to me!

Playing around with these here is just one of the many cool looks I'm probably going to come up with!

First I started with White As Snow. It's the lightest color in the collection. I does have a very light iridescent pink/purple. It also have this cool effect that makes it look like you have snow on your nails! ("Cool" is an intended pun, lol) As with a lot of this collection the polish is sheer. So a number of coats might be needed or it gives you a chance to play around with it over other polishes.

My red dress with my Fairy Tale Forest nails
 and my fashion twin, Hanh.
There was one color that had a darker Pink/Purple iridescent, Stella Grace. My dress was red but it somehow looked like it matched. And I was happy with how it looked! I used several layers of Stella Grace to build the color. Like I said the colors are pretty sheer. You easily see White as Snow underneath!

My only complaint is with Stella Grace. I has stars in it but none ever came up when I was using it. It's still a lovely polish though!

I was doing my nails for an upcoming Christmas event. I was thinking on going bold with color but getting this set and like I said, it's different then a lot of stuff in my current polish I decided to try it!

I think it turned out well!

Falling in Color

Ah, the beauty of Fall! It's like a fireworks show done in reds, yellows, orange, and a dash of green!

Starting on my left hand I painted all but my ring finger...

L. A. Colors Color Craze Nail Polish with hardenersNP422 Lighting
When I bought this polish I thought it was a neon pink. Later I realized it's more a hot coral nearly orange. What get me is the color's name in "Lighting" .... Why? If you have a clue please comment, I just can't think of any reason this color is named "Lighting"!
This color is a little sheer. You might want to do an extra coat. At only a $1 or $2 so it's worth it!

My ring finger adds a touch of green! I really have a soft spot for this color and top it off it's GLITTER! A very fine metallic glitter. Pure Ice is a good lower cost polish around $2. It looks like the higher price polishes. Some you might can even call dupes. :-)

Sephora by O.P.I Top Coat "I Found My Pot of Gold" 12023AGV SE 459 +Sephora +OPI Products
I topped the look off with a top coat on my thumb and pinky.
Sorry, this in a discontinued polish made in partnership between Sephora and O.P.I. It's still out there if you look for it. Check the internet. Big Lots is another good place to find this kind of stuff.
This polish is a little strange. It's clear with small gold glitter... then there are large diamond shaped holographic glitter in silver.

Repeat on right hand in any order you please. Found a bag of these in a clearance bin at Big Lots! Gave them a try, Yummy :-) +Big Lots

A Nail by Any Other Color

Ever wanted to paint each nail a different color?
DO IT!
______________________

My rule for this project. Red on the right hand. Green on the left

Flower by Drew Barrymore Nail'd It Nail Lacquer
NP24 Evening Primrose
Starting off is a dark/dull green. I find it a weird color really. Not a color I would up and say "I'm painting all my nails this color!" But I do use it when I'm getting creative like with Camo Nails. Primrose does have sparkles but more a hint of them rather then really calling this a glitter polish.

Revlon Color Stay Long wearing Nail Enamel
220 Rain Forest
I found a dupe!!! I first had Glitzy Green by Salon Perfect then I found this bottle of Rain Forest at a really good price. I didn't realize that they were both the same color until doing this! You get what you pay for though. Revlon only takes two coats to the three Salon Perfect needed to look the same. I just checked their website and they no longer seem to carry Color Stay Long Wearing. Looks like they have a Gel polish taking it's place.

SP Salon Perfect Professional Nail Laquer
309 Glitzy Green
This is a dupe. Read above on Revlon's Rain Forest.

Pure Ice Nail Polish

1023 Lucky Charming
Such a pretty color and oh so glittery! Pure Ice not to bad of a brand. Not ultra long lasting but fair. this took about 2 to 3 coats.

Pure Ice Nail Polish

1026 Hit the Floor
Again Pure Ice and this in a stunning red. Reminds me of Dorothy's slippers in The Wizard of Oz. I've also seen a dupe of this I believe in Salon Perfect. I bought it in Pure Ice because it was cheaper.

Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme wear Nail Color
240 Twisted Pink
You can hardly go too wrong with Sally Hansen. I can't find this color on their website. I bought it a year ago.

L. A. Colors Color Craze Nail Polish with hardeners
NP422 Lighting #13233
I normally take Wet n' Wild over LA Colors but I saw this color and wanted it! Neon Pink! It almost has a orange color to it. I like colors that just jump out at you like this. The polish it's self is pretty good. Not bad for a $1 bottle of polish!

Flower by Drew Barrymore Nail'd It Nail Lacquer
NP4 Gorgeous Gerbera
Flower has a strange mix of colors in my opinion. This one is a flesh-tone pink. One thing about Flower is that of all the polishes I used here, it is the longest lasting. So if you like the colors I would recommend it. It does have a thicker consistency so it can be a little harder to get is on the nail looking perfect.

Gold Evergreen Leaf Nails: How To

The effects you can do with polish these days!
I saw this eye catching color in the store and was like, that is so pretty!!! I kept going back looking at it till I bought it! I was not disappointed in the least on the way it turn out looking!!! It looks like shiny gold leaf but in green!
Here is your "How To" from your Glitter Glam Mandy.....
_________________________________

Step 1: Two base coats of "For-evergreen" This is a simple green polish.

*Step 2: Then we bring in the glitter! This is a very dense glitter gloss. One to two coats of "Glitzy Green"

Step 3: Ah, now what tops it off! That lovely bottle of glitter I found. Two coats of "Lucky Charming"!

Step 4: It's best to dry as soon as possible for full shine and least amount of dings from hitting them against anything or everything... me.

* If you are wondering why I am using two glitter polishes on top of each other, it's to create depth. Glitter glosses have clear polish that can be seen through so you should have some thing to see. I have tried "Green Charming" without a glitter gloss like I did here and it turned out flatter looking on the nail.

Purple Nail Potion

So, what were you this Halloween? Me? I worked that night so I wore a costume... so I claim that as my costume this year!

Wasn't sure what to do with my nails… since I was working, nobody would hardly see them... being it is so cold out now my hands would be wearing gloves. We were starting to get "Wintery Mixes" by this point.

My mom bought some sparkly purple I liked and thought I’d try it out. I like to layer, so here we go…

I’m not much of a manicure person… just not. I will paint them when I’m in the mood and cut and groom them as needed. I don’t know how in the world people get those LONG nail they haven’t cut in years… it’s for one thing, gross. Second, I can’t deal with long nails… they drive me nuts. (No, I don’t bite my nails! I really cut them that short! I’ve gotten that question before…)

Anyway, back on topic. The first coat is of Sally Hansen "Purple Potion". Sounds like a Holloween'ish name, right? (Well, to be honest to my beliefs I do not endorse Witchcraft. You know that disclaimer in front of Michael Jackson’s Thriller… yeah. … just have to throw that in there.) Ok, back to nails…
I looked on the Sally Hansen website and they don't seem to have this color anymore! "
My mom bought a purple to go with this top coat but I decided to use my own. Mine has an iridescent purple that changes to blue. Of all the nail polish I have used Sally Hansen is one of the best. There are two coats here. It would have been better had I done one more.
I have never use the Pure Ice brand before. I found online that "All Pure Ice Nail Polish are free of formaldehyde, toluene and DBP." I don’t like to make my mind up quickly on if a product is good or not after one use but so far so good. It’s purple glitter with a mix of red. I did two coats. Again I needed more. The glitter is VERY glittery! I like it! It’s a type of glitter that a photo doesn't quite do it justice. It glitters a lot with movement.
One thing that also drives me crazy about painting my nails is the fact I can’t keep my fingers still to dry long enough to keep from messing up my nails! This Avon quick dry works better than dyers I have used in the past. Some I have used I didn't bother with for long because they didn't’ work very well. I will actually use this and it does for the most part dry the polish and seems to leave it shiner then if I just let it dry naturally. It also doesn't stay really oily afterwards. What little is left is easily wiped away. It’s not yucky.
I just looked on Avon's site and it says they don't sell this anymore!!! What?!?! I don't now if they made something new to use in it's place or what but this is a good product!
