Sun Kissed Gold

  • Urban Nomad
    Size ?
    Made in China
    Modern

Isn't this a neat little dress?! I myself have thought a sari made into a top would be cute. Well, this is a dress but close enough! :-) It has a lot of metallic threads so it's very shiny. The fabric is a bit sheer so be pre-paired to wear something under it. It definitely has a bright and shiny beach feel to it.
The top is an elastic rushing. I don't know what size this is but the way it's made it doesn't matter much. At the bottom there is a thin long fringe. The side split up at the sides.

    Size 13 juniors
    RN# 59778
    Made in China
    Modern

Since this dress is sheer and short with slits up the side I'm wearing some shorts from Dream Out Loud by Selena Gomez This brand is carried by K-mart. Fun young styles that you can get at really good prices when they hit clearance. I picked up several pairs of shorts the day I got these. I like to wear shorts under short-short dresses. Hey, I'm a classy girl ;-)

Accessories
  •     Flip-Flops
Brandless I guess. You know, a dollar at Wal-mart...
  •     Sunglasses
Sunglasses are in this year! So many stores are getting in more designer looking frames and at reasonable prices! And the are UV protective!

    Nails:
This polish is old. I don't remember when I bought it but it was a long time ago. The main color is a coral red but with a gold metallic tint to it. Not sure it the camera really picks it up well but I thought it went well with this dress.

Casual Biz

My work requires a bit of travel at times. These were taken at a park not far from my work on the first day I arrived after the long  road trip there. I work as an actor so I can wear whatever I want to get there in and my costumes are supplied for me. But here I was headed to a meeting to get briefed on stuff and get my contract set.

  ______________

T-shirt:
     Size M (8/10)
     RN#123187
    Made in Salvador
    Modern

I got several of these Danceskin T-shirts a while back on a clearance sale and have never worn them. Decided to pull them out for the fall! A number of my everyday clothes are starting to go beyond their prime in life. Fade the old ones out and throw some new ones in…
I love these due to their tie to dance. I love dance! This shirt has the Danceskin logo with the title “MOVE” in big letters.

Shirt is made from 100% Organic Cotton.

Pants:
Faded Glory Quality Goods
    Size 10A
    RN#78096
    Made in China
    Modern

Here we go with the sizing again… this is the smallest size 10... it’s more like a 6. Why can’t these companies get together and decide on a standardized size chart?!
Anyway, these are really pretty with black and clear rhinestones on the pockets. Didn’t get a good shot of the back of them… will have to include that later when I wear them again.

Belt:
Unknown
    Vintage

We bought this belt thinking it was made for someone who was just really large and thought we would just cut it down to fit. I later realized you are suppose to wrap it around twice!
It’s a thin white leather type (man-made, I believe) belt studded with round multi colored rhinestones. I’m pretty sure this is from at least the 1990’s maybe early 90’s or mid/late 80’s. It has no labels.

Coat:
Hard Candy

    Size M (7-9) Juniors
   Made in China
    Modern

Hot pink hoodie with crystal rhinestones in the shape of a diamond on one side. Made in a soft velvet fabric. You can’t really see the diamond in the picture. I tried to get it in there but it got covered by my hair.
Hard Candy is more of a makeup line then clothes but every once in a while I will see clothing by them. This is the first piece of clothing I’ve ever bought made by Hard Candy. I like their make-up. It’s fun and glittery… (once I get over the fact it looks/sounds like a make-up brand for hookers… lol… )

Shoes:
Bongo
    Size 9

 My "go to" shoes lately.
Rainy Day Sparkle
Coffee With Friends

Makeup:
  Face

I found this True Match by L'Oreal at a crazy cheap price and appeared to be close to my skin tone. Well, really I found two shades and bought both but I used Porcelain W1 here. These are not something I would buy to try at full price but the clearance price I found it at was cheap enough to give it a shot!
L'Oreal True Match is pretty good! IF… you have the right skin for it. The trouble I have with it is my skin can be quite dry in spots and this stuff goes on to a powder finish which makes the dry spots really show up as flaky. If your face tends to be oily this might be a better match but I do like the feel and how it goes on. This time I used it for the first time in a while and I managed to make it look really good so maybe I can use this if I find a way it works best on me.
Use the cover sticks as needed.
I used my blush first this time and blended the foundation and powder into it. This creates a more subtle natural look. (Kind of a peek through effect.) The true match comes next. I then used a darker shade of powder that I normally wear and used it in a more bronzing way then as a powder.

  Lips:
First I put on the Balm Stain. I like to do this in case the lip stick comes off there is a more permanent color underneath so you don’t have to worry so much with reapplying your lip color. “Red-dy or Not” and “Retro Red are very similar in color. “Red-dy” looks just a touch darker then “Retro”
As for “Moisturizing”… don’t get your hopes up. It works good as a stain but I have not found it very moisturizing.
“Retro Red” goes on top of the stain. I bought this color because I was in a show and needed a really red color. And since it was a show and I wasn’t making big bucks for it I went with a cheap tube of New York Color. Again let me say, price does not always tell you how good a makeup will be. It probably was around a $1 or two but it’s a good simple tube of lipstick!

Eyes Brows:
I’ve been using Hard Candy Black eye shadow for my brow but this time went and used my Avon Eye liner. I use to always use the Avon. They eye shadow was something new I tried that I liked the effect of.

Eyes:
This is the first time I have tried ELF Eyeliner. Found a set of 5 colors in Target. Results is pretty good. The only eyeliner pencil I have ever gotten to work was Avon. I do much better with liquid liners but ELF along with Avon works. Still not the precision of a liquid but will do for basic eye lining.
For my lids I used a cream shadow. I used the medium pink in the set. Really I don’t know anything about this brand. I found two sets of different colors and bought both. The cases open with a nice mirror inside. I didn’t pay much for it… really, I may use the mirror more than I do the actual makeup!
In the inner corners I use Revlon Cheek Glaze “Glow”. I’ve had this stuff for years. I use to use it for stage makeup for highlights when I was still in youth theater. Same effect could be done with a white shimmer eye shadow.
For my lids I used a cream shadow. I used the medium pink in the set. Really I don’t know anything about this brand. I found two sets of different colors and bought both. The cases open with a nice mirror inside. I didn’t pay much for it… really, I may use the mirror more than I do the actual makeup!

Accessories:
  • Ballet Dancer Silver necklace
  • Blue headband
Again wearing my Ballet Dancer. (Rainy Day Sparkle) A reminder of the pain I went through taking Ballet… but I still love it and need to find a legit dance studio to start taking again!
Blue head band, in which I don’t remember where I got it but it was in a set at a good price… I want to say it was at Target… maybe…

Party With the Young'uns

A lot of family get-togethers revolve around birthday
parties. The latest was my cousin's littlest. In past parties I have ended up getting dropped in a dunking booth and sliding down one of those blow up kid's things...

Dress:
  Bisou Bisou
 Size 4
 Modern

This is a wrap around dress made out of a swim suit type fabric. When I found this I loved the fact the fabric looked like peacock feathers! Peacock feathers remind me of Princess Jasmine... so, yeah I'm a Aladdin Fan. (not ashamed... or trying to not be)
Bisou Bisou was created by Michele Bohbot and Bisou means "A Little Kiss" in French. On their site the latest line shown is the 2012 Spring Collection. So not sure if this line is manufactured any more.
Really this dress has a very 40's look to it. The fabric kind of outshines a lot of the details.
A ray of pin tucks from the left side to the center right. The sleeves are caped at the elbow. I had short pants underneath. Wrap skirts can show too much if your not careful! This one didn't give me much trouble.

Shoes:
  Flip Flops
Size 9

I don't know what the brand of these are. I've had them for a while. They are a dark pink with glitter. Have some purple sequined heels that would go great with this but alas... not a good idea at a party involving water slides.

Makeup:

Face
  • Elf Zit Zapper
  • Loreal Paris +lorealparisnyc  Sublime Sun Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 100 Sheer Lightweight Lotion
  • N.Y.C. New York Color Cover Stick 782A Medium
  • Cover Girl Clean 225 Buff Beige
  • E.L.F. +e.l.f. Cosmetics  HD Blush #83231 Headliner
Gluten issues getting you down? Like Dermatitis Herpetiformis? Pull out your handy Zit Zapper! Yes, it's made for use on common zits but it also dose a good job of soothing and removing redness from what I call "Gluten Bumps". This stuff is pretty nice! I've been through I don't know how many achne products over the years and this is one of the best and most simple ideas that actually work!
This year it was too hot to even sit outside for very long but I prepared for if I did spend very long in the sun. I burn and maybe turn a darker shade of pale as a result. So I'm even more not a fan of the sun. Sunburns HURT!!! If I know I'm going to be in the sun much I like to use a sun screen moisturizer and I found Loreal's on clearance and thought I'd give it a try. I hate most sunscreen due to the smell and yucky feeling. I would recommend this! The smell is pleasant and you can put makeup on top of it and not have a total mess.
Now after treating your "Gluten Bumps" with the Zip Zapper and letting that dry. Cover it with NYC Cover stick then hit the cheeks with a dab and I mean a dab as this stuff goes a LONG way, E.L.F HD Blush. Too much and you will look like you have a sunburn! ;-)

Eyes
  • Maybelline NY Define-a-lash Mascara Very Black
  • Maybelline NY Color Tattoo 24hr By Eyestudio Limited Edition 15 "Blue Paradise"
Again using Define-a-lash Very Black. It's been pretty much the only mascara I've been using lately.
COLOR TATTOO!!!! I have been wanting to try this stuff for years now!! Finally got my hands on two colors. I have it in this Limited Edition Blue and another orange color. Haven't had the chance to try the orange but the blue! Oh, it's fun! A very iridescent effect! It looks better on your skin then when it's just sitting in the jar. And yes, it lasts very well! Check out the colors they still make, I'm liking the Teal!

Lips
  • Wet n Wild Vicious Varnish High Shine Lip Stain Fergie Line +FergieVEVO  "Ball in Vienna"
A fav of mine right now! People who only wear expensive brands need to get over themselves! This stuff is REALLY good. I still had some of it on my lips the NEXT DAY! I came across this while looking for Pinkerbelle in a Walgreens that didn't carry it but next to the normal brand of Wet n Wild I saw the Fergie line. And I saw a picture of a girl with a color on her lips I really liked. They didn't say what the color was though! Looked around at the colors and this matched the most so I bought it. Glad I did!

Jewelry
  • Avon clip-on earrings
I do not re-call the name of these earrings but they came from Avon when I sold Avon. I got them at a discounted price because they were discontinued. I have earrings and a matching necklace. I don't wear them together cause they are such large bold pieces that it would just be too much. I've had people remark that they look old and they are correct. They do have an early turn of the century look to them. Maybe that's part of the reason I like them so much. Antique look and in pink with rhinestones! Oh, and they came as clip-ons! I do not have pierced ears.

Scent
  • Elizabeth Taylor's Passion
This smells like flowers! Paper whites, maybe? It's also a pretty strong scent. I like to wear this often. It's not fruity but not earthy either. I tend to go for fruity but this is nice when I'm in an in between mood. Totally smells nothing like anything else I have!

Nails
  • Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear Nail Color 210 "Flirt"
  • Wet n Wild Fast Dry Nail Color C238C "Party of Five Glitters" By Markwins
As I said. I'm not a big manicure fan. If in the mood I paint my nails and I like to be fancy weird about it. I remember my first two bottles of nail polish my mom let me by at a dollar store. One was dark fuschia and the other gold. I had never seen it done before but I came up with painting gold streaks over the fuschia. Wasn't I clever...
Anyway, people have been layering polish for years. But I particularly like this combo. The first color is a deep deep blood red. Not a color I thought I'd like very much but I bought it on sale needing it for a project I was working on and I was surprised I actually liked the color as nail polish!
The clear coat with glitter really works easily. Best clear coat glitter I have ever used!

Party Time!

I'm really trying not to cheat on my Gluten Free diet (It's unpleasant when I do so that does help matters) but I do at birthday parties and weddings because I don't get sick much when I eat cake. I think part of the reason of this is that Gluten is taken out of cake rather then added to it.
But look at what my cousin managed to do with cake! I've seen this on Pinterest but never in person! Pretty cool, hu?!

(And yeah... she's a knock-out... the model I spoke of HERE ... got some good genes running in my family.) +Tiffany Jernigan

Evening Get-together

I've had this group of friends in my life for over 17 years. We met here and there. We got together recently at one of the newly wed's new apartment.

"Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver and the other GOLD!" a song I learned in elementary school.
____________

Top:
 Saucy Girl
Size Child's Large 12/14
Made in Thailand

This is a ribbed fabric with the neckline beaded with sequins and beads. 96% cotton 4% spandex, and yes this is a child tank top... I admit I have kids clothing in my wardrobe. If they look good, fit, and I like it then why not?! Girls stop feeling ashamed! If you wear a women's XXL + or you still can get in stuff in the kid's section, doesn't matter what anyone might say about it, hold you head up high and make the best of what you have been given!

 No Boundaries
Size: Juniors Medium 7/9
Assembled in Mexico Modern
Cut #1194502
Style #15ja148p

I have two tops like this one. The other is red and a different print. I've had them a number of years. Back when Wall-mart sold quality clothing. This is a pretty cool design! The chiffon has a 60's style print and can be seen through. It came with a top to wear under it but I thought the beading on the tank top would look nice.

Pants:
  Faded Glory
Size 8A
Modern
(Also seen in this look... Click Here)
Again wearing my Faded Glory jeans. Thought this time I'd get a shot of the back with the fancy embroidery.

Shoes:
   Avon
   Size 9
  Modern
These have around an inch or two heel. I've had a number of people notice them. They came from Avon but I really don't know the actual brand. They originally came with green bows. I had a blue dress I wanted to wear them with so we went out and found some children's hair bows that clips and there ya go...

 Makeup:

  Face
  • Cover Girl +COVERGIRL  Clean 220 Creamy Natural Pressed Powder
  • Milani Double Impact Blush #02 Wine & Roses
I'm not a believer in heavy makeup. It's just my personal style to keep it simple for everyday life. Hey, some days I only throw on some lip gloss. But I know how to glam it up too when I feel like it ;-)
Here I have a powdering of Cover Girl Clean 220 Creamy Natural.
As for the blush. I can't find it to give more details on it. It's around here somewhere... (Never mind, found it!)
I've had it a while but haven't used it a lot. I bought it when I was trying to find something to replace my favorite color from Maybelline that was discontinued. Here I used the lighter shade. It's a very soft pink.

Eyes
  Using Maybelline NY Define-a-lash Mascara.
As for eye shadow I used Black Radiance Shadow Crème in what I would call a vivid medium blue. It's sold under the name Jewel but I don't know if they still make this particular eye shadow. I googled it and their whole website wasn't working. (Update 11/13/2014 Black Radiance fav'd this post on Twitter and thus here is their working website!)  This brand is focused for African American women. I have a collection of these eye shadows. I like how deep the colors are and it is a cream that should dry though for some reason it didn't work very well on this day and it moved around my eyelids. Not sure what happened, maybe I should have set it with some powder.

Lips
  • New York Color NYC 445 "Coralista" EXPERT LAST LIPSTICK
  • L.A. Color Brilliant Shine Glitter Gloss LG820 Rosy Pink
"Coralista" is a new color for New York Color. My mom and I ran across it earlier this year. We both agreed that we liked this one the best and got it. We had to go to a couple of stores to find it as the one we did see was damaged.
I really like the vivid colors coming out this year in lipsticks. Colors I've really haven't seen before! It's the early 1990's all over again!!! Only this time they are matching the neon colors in makeup!
"Coralista" is a bright coral color. It's not my favorite lipstick formula but it's not that bad, particular at the price range of $2 - $3.
I tried to put a gloss coat of L.A. Color Brilliant Shine Glitter Gloss on top of the coral and it's didn't work to well. The NYC lipstick doesn't work well for layering. Which is partly why it's not my favorite formula.
